Chess Tip of the Day: Think First, Move Second!

All of our schedules have changed due to the pandemic. Rather than have nothing available for December, the GPCF is offering to hold the Winter Invitational online. It's no longer a USCF rated event with discounted US Chess memberships available, but will be played online at LiChess.org. Games will be rated using the LiChess ratings.

There is a 6 board high school section and 4 open sections. Players compete only against players in their own section. Awards will be given to the top team and individual winners in all sections. Team trophies will also be given for the top team scores in each section. High school teams compete according to IHSA rules. In the open sections, a team is composed of the top 4 scores. To compete as a team, all players must be from the same school or home schooled but teamed with the school that they would attend if in the public school system.
